John Simonett honored at College of St. Benedict's annual Red Mass
John Simonett, who joined Greene Espel in 1994 after a distinguished tenure on the Minnesota Supreme Court, received the Fidelis Apparitor ("Faithful Servant") Award at this year's Red Mass at the College of St. Benedict. The ceremony had special significance to Simonett, who met his wife on the St. Benedict campus when he was an undergraduate at nearby St. John's University. Speakers included Chief Judge James Rosenbaum of the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, Minnesota Supreme Court Chief Justice Russell Anderson, and Minnesota First District Judge Martha Simonett. The Red Mass has been celebrated by Roman Catholic congregations since the year 1245, and it marks the beginning of the judicial year in many jurisdictions around the world.
