Johnson named Up & Coming Attorney by Minnesota Lawyer

Greene Espel is pleased to announce that John Ursu and Mark Johnson have been named 2011 Up & Coming Attorneys by Minnesota Lawyer. The award honors attorneys who distinguish themselves through their professional accomplishments, leadership, and service to the community during their first ten years of practice. We are proud to have two of the 25 Up & Coming Attorneys practicing at Greene Espel.

John Ursu litigates complex commercial and intellectual-property cases. John graduated from the University of Michigan Law School in 2002, where he was Managing Editor of the University of Michigan Law Review and won the 78th Annual Henry M. Campbell Moot Court Competition. Following law school, John clerked for the Honorable Richard H. Kyle of the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota. John has practiced at Greene Espel since 2005 where, according to the 2010 edition of Benchmark: The Definitive Guide to America's Leading Litigation Firms and Attorneys, he “has made a name for himself managing complex business disputes.”  In both its third and fourth annual editions, Benchmark named John as one of fewer than 20 “Future Stars” of litigation statewide. When John is not practicing law, he is likely chasing around his three young daughters or chasing a puck playing hockey.

Mark Johnson joined Greene Espel in 2005 after clerking on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and practicing at a large commercial law firm in Chicago. Mark graduated with honors in 2003 from the University of Chicago Law School, where he was Articles Editor for The University of Chicago Legal Forum. Mark handles cases involving commercial and contract disputes, trademarks and unfair competition, finance and securities, and international disputes. When he is not assisting clients, Mark can often be found rowing on the Mississippi River (he is currently President of the Minneapolis Rowing Club), flying small airplanes, or spending time with his family.
