Award: Minnesota Lawyer Names Attorney Nicholas Scheiner as 2022 Up & Coming Attorney and Litigation Support Manager Brigid Volk as a 2022 Unsung Legal Hero

Greene Espel is proud to announce that Minnesota Lawyer selected attorney Nick Scheiner as 2022 "Up & Coming Attorney." Each year, Minnesota Lawyer selects a small group of attorneys for this honor. Recipients are in their first ten years of practice and have distinguished themselves through their professional accomplishments, leadership, and service to the community.

Additionally, Minnesota Lawyer named Litigation Support Manager Brigid Volk as a 2022 "Unsung Legal Hero." This award recognizes the legal professionals—legal administrative assistants, paralegals, office managers, IT and marketing staff, librarians, and others—who have their attorneys’ and everyone else's backs and who make sure the job gets done.

Nick Scheiner represents companies, institutions, and public entities in internal and government investigations, enforcement actions, and complex business litigation across a variety of industries. He has developed a diverse litigation practice, representing clients in an array of industries, including health care, consumer technology, education, mobile software, and manufacturing.

Formerly a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Manhattan, Nick also has deep investigative experience and an ability to communicate effectively with government agencies. Nick  applies that experience in client-initiated internal investigations, civil enforcement actions by federal and state agencies, and criminal investigations for clients in a host of industries, including health care, telecommunications, consumer technology, and renewable energy. Whether in high-stakes multidistrict litigations or smaller scale private business disputes, clients appreciate Nick’s practical, levelheaded approach to litigation. As a result of his exceptional work, Nick has been widely recognized by his peers. He is included on the 2022 Minnesota Rising Stars list as part of the Super Lawyers selection process, and he was recognized as a 2021 "Attorney of the Year" for his role representing 3M in pursuing distributors of counterfeit N95 masks.

Brigid Volk serves as Greene Espel’s primary litigation support resource. With more than 20 years of experience in litigation technology, Brigid advises and assists attorneys and paralegals navigate the e-discovery process from beginning to end while following the guiding principles set forth by the Electronic Discovery Reference Model, the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, and Greene Espel standards, all while controlling costs. Brigid’s role also includes consulting with case teams in preparation for trial, including preparation of trial exhibits and demonstratives, configuration of courtroom and war room technology, and support for daily in-courtroom presentations.

Beyond her work at Greene Espel, she serves the larger community. She is a member of the International Legal Technology Association (ILTA), Minnesota Association of Litigation Support Professionals (MALSP), and Women in eDiscovery. She has served as secretary, Vice President and chapter President of Minnesota Association of Litigation Support Professionals and has been serving as the chapter treasurer for several years.
