Advancing client interests through incisive legal analysis plus compelling storytelling.

Overview

Gina Tonn represents clients in complex civil litigation across both the public and private sectors, focusing on antitrust and competition, intellectual property and false advertising, employment, and constitutional matters.

Gina balances the details with the big picture in everything she does, and deftly pairs clear and incisive legal analysis with compelling storytelling. Drawing on her substantial federal litigation and clerkship experience, Gina offers clients a deep understanding of the federal court system and provides informed guidance at every stage of litigation—from complaint through appeal. Gina leverages her experience with discovery in complex litigation in federal courts to offer nuanced insight into the practical and substantive value of strategically investigating and developing the record of her client’s cases.

Before joining Greene Espel, Gina clerked for The Honorable Jane Kelly of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and The Honorable John R. Tunheim of the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota. Gina is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School, where she served as Editor-in-Chief of the Minnesota Law Review. While in law school, Gina was a student director of the Federal Immigration Litigation Clinic and worked as a law clerk in the University’s Office of the General Counsel.

Gina is active in the legal community, mentoring students as an adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota Law School (2025-26), editing the quarterly Bar Talk newsletter for the Minnesota Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, and volunteering through the Advocates for Human Rights.
